Loaning to Trust

  • You loan an amount to the trustees to invest on behalf of the trust/beneficiaries

  • The loan amount remains in your estate for Inheritance Tax purposes

  • You can reclaim up to 5% per annum of the original loan for 20 years without any immediate income tax implications. As the loan reduces the amount in your estate for Inheritance Tax purposes also reduces

  • You can reclaim the full amount of the loan outstanding at any time
  • All growth achieved by the investment is immediately outside of your estate for Inheritance Tax purposes

  • The investment in the trust will not be subject to probate

  • Similarly as with gifting to trust, the investment would be in a protected environment for your children with regards to divorce, bankruptcy and further Inheritance Tax in their estates
